About the Piece

This piece was inspired by a print by Bhajju Shyam from a book called The Night Life of Trees. I loved the fine detail of the background against the more sturdy snakes and tried to interpret that in a two-plate print. I like printing the coral-like background in different colors to see how it meshes with the black.

Technique / Materials: The Snake Tree is a multiple color, hand-carved linocut print. It is printed on cotton archival printmaking paper, with deckled edges. This is an open edition print.

Size: The image is 8 1/2” x 12” and the paper is 11” x 15”
