About the Piece
I wanted to make something that would feature my dog, Huck, and highlight his playful side, so I made an oversized version of him to place in a nearly perfect garden. This piece is made up of one dog and a garden scene cut up into three different plates to allow for a variety of colors. My process is multi-step: I ink the flowers and the flying creature plates, jigsaw them together, and run them through the press. I then ink Huck in black and place him in and above the garden to suggest his magnificence. I also print Huck on other images, like monotype prints, because his smiling face brings joy to whatever he lands on.
Technique / Materials: Huck in the Garden is an original, hand-carved linocut print. It is printed with oil-based ink on acid-free cotton printmaking paper, with deckled edges. This is an open edition print.
Size: The image is 9” x 10” and the paper is 11” x 15”
