About the Piece

On a trip to the Galapagos Islands, I spent some time with Blue Footed Boobies and was enamored by them: they are weird-looking but charming birds, and I wanted to capture the shocking brightness of their blue feet along with their goofy demeanor. After printing the image, I watercolor in the feet so that you can’t mistake them for anything other than what they are.

Technique / Materials: Blue Footed Boobies is a hand-carved linocut print with watercolor painted on. It is printed on cotton archival printmaking paper, with deckled edges. This is an open edition print.

Size: The image is 7” x 7” and the paper is 8” x 8”
